Emma is an Australian interdisciplinary artist in Brighton, England, working in sculpture, painting and video. Her work seeks to connect with grief by creating sacred objects that reflect on loss.

Her work uses botanical processes as a metaphor with her experience with Australian bushfires. Using fire as both a destroyer and a creator through germination, she links the human condition to parallels in flora, the power of nature and metamorphosis.

She uses mixed media including paper, flowers (both live and fake), florist’s supplies and scrap metal to create sculptural pieces.  Her experimentation explores the human need to fill a void after loss with physical forms that hold emotional weight.

Using continuing themes of flowers, memorials and ash in the creation of personal transitional objects, she creates a narrative of the grieving process to find catharsis; Drawing the conclusion that joy can exist with sorrow and grief exits because love exists.
